D.I.Y. Terracotta Pumpkins
This fun halloween diy project is actually something you could use to transform many older pieces in your home, not just pumpkins!
You guys know I love anytime of year when I can really go all out and decorate for a special holiday. That said over the years I have collected DOZENS of different styles of pumpkins during many different decor phases in my life lol. Many of which I could no longer see myself using in the future. So when I saw this fun and easy DIY terracotta pumpkin project all over the internet this year I knew I definitely wanted to give it a go!
I started off with this giant pile of old pumpkins which believe it or not wasn’t even half of my stash lol. Now let’s get to how I transformed them!
Terracotta Pumpkin DIY Steps:
-Using sico Georgian Leather paint colour in an eggshell finish, paint out all your pumpkins (2 coats leaving 6 hours between each coat)
-The following steps should be done outside in a well-ventilated area
-Once paint is dry using a clear matte spray paint and working in sections: get a good even coat of spray paint on your section and dust entire area with baking flour using a baking sifter.
-Tap your pumpkin firmly on your work surface to remove excess flower
-Go in with a medium sized fluffy brush (something similar in size and density to a makeup powder brush) and dust off any remaining flower
-Continue the previous step until pumpkin is covered doing the top part of your pumpkin last
You can absolutely try this out with different base paint colours as well as on different objects in your home. I’m picturing some old vases and lamps refinished this way and think they would turn out absolutely stunning!
But for now Lemmy and I are very happy with out perfectly transformed pumpkins.
